Inspiration Board Wannabe

I love collages with inspirational photos, but I don't have the skills, nor the time to make them. But now, since I don't have time to go on the streets and spot some interesting outfits, I picked some pictures (that I like in this particularly period) from my inspiration folder and put them together in a not-so-very-artistic way. After that, I noticed how many of them are black & white. Well, I guess they work together with the winter that didn't go away yet. I hope you like it just a little bit ...

Very Dresses

Dresses are often a staple of many women's wardrobes. They’re flexible, versatile and super easy to wear making them a favourite choice amongst women of all ages. Fashion designers have picked up on this and the choice in dresses is massive!

Trying to choose one that you like can be overwhelming, so whether you buy your dresses online or on the high street, here’s a brief summary of the types of dresses you can expect to find:

Day Dresses

Day dresses are often made from a soft, light fabric such as cotton. Many of these styles are subtle, understated and often simple in their cut meaning that you can wear them without looking like you’re trying to be too dressed up. They tend to be more floaty and flowing than an evening dress in order to give a more relaxed look but can be found in both plain and neutral colours and patterned fabrics for those who like to reflect their personality in their clothes.

Something that is common amongst most day dresses is that they have the ability to be turned into something dressier if needed, for example it’s now becoming more of a trend to wear a dress over a shirt for example, something which can make it look more sophisticated.

Evening Dresses

Evening dresses as a category can really be split into two further categories. There’s the party dresses - short hems, low cut, big skirts and skin tight and then there’s the occasion dresses which tend to be more sophisticated and flowing, ensuring modesty at all times and adding just a hint of sparkle.

It’s very important that you don’t choose the wrong kind of evening dress for the wrong event! Can you imagine going to a nightclub in an occasion dress, or your great aunts 50th wedding anniversary in a skin tight leopard-print number? It’s far more important to get it right with an evening dress as these styles tend to be far less versatile than day dresses, so somebody will always know if you’ve got it wrong.

When shopping for dresses, it’s important to know what style you’re looking for in order to ensure that the style you choose matches the occasion that you want the dress for. Day dresses can be seen to be more versatile than evening dresses but if you’re looking for something a little bit special, sometimes an evening dress is the only way to go.

There’s a reason that there are so many different styles of dresses available and if you always try to keep your dresses separated into these two simple categories you’re bound to find the perfect one for you.

Vintage Photos (2)

After the previous vintage photos, I found some more that I liked. The first one is with my grandmother in the mid 60's. I particularly love her coat which is still very modern and I'd wish to own one. I also like the baby carriage. Isn't it cute? Or is it cute because of my mom in it?

This second picture is with my grandfather and his friends. My grandpa is the one with the sunglasses, the cool one! :) It also had a date written on the back: 22. March. 1946! I love how classy they look and the hats. It is great how they are captured in motion with the same walk.

The Coated Outfit

I love this coat! It was a long coat, but my friend shortened it and made it like a full skirt coat. A woman told me on the street that I look like a sparrow (?), but I like to call it the "Mary Poppins coat".

The exam period is starting and I have a lot of them, more than a dozen. I won't have so much time to photograph and post until mid February. Thank you for your understanding.

Big Square ... Teodora

I know Teo since we were in kindergarten. She was always fashion-conscious and besides that she is a talented artist. Teo was very enthusiastic to feature on my blog and I thank her for that. She also insisted to pose without her coat although it was chilly outside. I hope you like the photos. :)

Rennes Street ... Ioana

Happy New Year everybody! I am so glad to start this year on my blog with one of the most adorable little girls I know. She is so cute, I couldn't help myself. I hope for this year to find more stylish and lovely children to photograph and more open-minded people on the streets.
